Guardian Bikes is seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to strategic financial planning. This role demands advanced technical accounting knowledge, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Reconciliation
- Perform comprehensive reconciliations of all bank accounts and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
- Manage daily cash accounting and prepare cash management reports to support operational and investment decisions.
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare, reconcile and review Sales Tax, Use Tax, Income Tax, Franchise/Business Tax, and Personal Property Tax returns in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Calculate and manage quarterly estimated tax payments, extensions, and accruals for income and property taxes.
- Reconcile sales tax by jurisdiction and ensure timely transfer of tax funds.
- Maintain relationships with external tax advisors and vendors to optimize compliance and tax strategies.
- Track and document R&D tax credits in accordance with IRS guidelines.
Fixed Assets & Lease Accounting
- Administer and monitor fixed asset records, including acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
- Post and reconcile depreciation entries and ensure proper fixed asset tagging and tracking.
- Manage both operating and finance lease accounting in compliance with ASC 842 standards, including periodic reviews and adjustments.
- Conduct Construction in Progress (CIP) reviews with department leadership to ensure accurate capitalization.
Financial Analysis & Internal Controls
- Provide variance analyses, budget-to-actual comparisons, and ad hoc financial reports to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with management to strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes.
- Assist with external audits and regulatory reviews by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Ensure all reporting adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal control standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (CPA or CMA certification preferred).
- Minimum 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a corporate environment or public accounting firm.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance regulations, and fixed asset accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (experience with ERP systems preferred).
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate across departments.
