Guardian Bikes is seeking a meticulous and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for managing cost accounting functions, maintaining accurate inventory valuation, and ensuring precise cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory control, and process improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

COGS & Inventory Reconciliation

  • Perform detailed COGS reconciliations to ensure accurate cost reporting and margin analysis.
  • Conduct comprehensive inventory reconciliations, verifying accuracy across systems and physical counts.
  • Manage average cost accounting, reviewing and adjusting entries as necessary.
  • Monitor and reconcile received-not-vouchered accounts and in-transit transactions.
  • Review transfer freight charges to ensure proper cost allocation.

VAT & Freight Cost Management

  • Oversee VAT rebate entries
  • Analyze and manage tariff and freight costs, partnering with logistics and procurement teams to optimize expense control.

Entries & Adjustments

  • Post and reconcile accrued purchases, COGS entries, and direct labor entries.
  • Prepare inventory valuation entries to support accurate financial statements.
  • Review and monitor inventory adjustments, including variance investigation.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Complete monthly variance analyses to evaluate cost trends and deviations.
  • Assist in preparing month-end account reconciliations and support financial close processes.
  • Conduct cycle count reviews and oversee the annual physical inventory process.
  • Provide ad hoc cost reports and analysis to management to support decision-making.
  • Ensure all reporting adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal control standards.
  • Assist with external audits and regulatory reviews by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 3–5 years of cost accounting or related experience in manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain environments.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and inventory management practices.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel; ERP system experience is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate across departments.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to process improvement and accuracy.
