Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator

Department: Operations

Reports To: Human Resource Manager

Location: Seymour, IN

Job Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and enforcement of health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This role assists in training employees, conducting audits, investigating incidents, and promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization. This position does require travel to our other facilities located outside of Indiana.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Program Support:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of site-specific safety policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the completion and filing of incident and injury reports; assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain and update SDS (Safety Data Sheet) documentation and chemical inventories.
  • Participate in environmental reporting and permit compliance tasks.

Training and Education:

  • Deliver or coordinate employee training in safety topics such as PPE usage, emergency procedures, hazard communication, and more.
  • Keep records of all safety training, certifications, and compliance documentation.

Incident Response & Prevention:

  • Assist in emergency response planning and drills.
  • Support hazard identification and risk assessments throughout the facility.
  • Promote proactive safety measures and continuous improvement.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, safety meetings, injuries, and training.
  • Prepare safety communications such as toolbox talks, safety alerts, and bulletin boards.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–3 years of experience in an EHS or related role.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental laws.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification preferred.
